Albion, a small coastal town on the west coast of Mauritius, is known for its peaceful atmosphere and scenic setting by the Indian Ocean. Unlike some of the island’s more crowded resort areas, Albion offers a quieter escape while still showcasing the natural beauty that makes Mauritius a favorite destination. Its coastline features rocky cliffs, sandy beaches, and a sense of tranquility that appeals to visitors looking for a more relaxed pace.

One of the highlights of Albion is its lighthouse, built in 1910 and still standing as an important maritime landmark. Perched on dramatic cliffs, the Albion Lighthouse offers sweeping views of the ocean and the rugged shoreline. It remains a favorite spot for photography and evening strolls, especially at sunset when the sea glows with golden light.

The nearby public beach provides calm waters for swimming and a chance to mingle with locals, especially on weekends when families gather for picnics and games. Albion is also known for its coastal reef, making it a good spot for snorkeling and diving. Just offshore, coral gardens and schools of tropical fish showcase the island’s rich marine biodiversity.
